Marieke is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Together with Mike, I dived in all corners of the world before I fell in love with St. Eustatius. If you are not sure if diving is your thing, I take the challenge. Your big smile after you did it, is rewarding enough for me. I speak Dutch, English and understand German. I like meeting old and new friends, cats and shoes ;-) I don’t like slow internet and people who are not straight-forward. Best dive in Statia finding my first seahorse here.

Mike is a PADI Course Director. After training instructors in a big dive center for years, I started missing small scale personal diving like Scubaqua offers. My big passion is underwater photography and I’m always in to discover new dive sites. I speak Dutch, English and German. I like positive attitudes. I don’t like arrogance and discrimination. Best dive in Statia the 45 minutes encounter with a green turtle who must have thought I was her partner.

Martin is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Growing up on the coast of South Africa and small island the isle of man, the ocean has always been a passion in my life. When I was 24 I decided to leave behind my construction career, and live a life doing what I love, I travelled back to South Africa to become a dive master and after a few years in Spain an instructor ever since I’ve never looked back, I absolutely love submerging myself in the ocean and being at one with its inhabitants, meeting new people and playing a part in everyone having a beautiful experience, I’ve been blessed to find Scubaqua and my girlfriend and I have both become part of the team, it’s certainly a divers paradise and dream work place. There’s nothing like being excited to go to work. Grand canyon is my favorite dive site in Statia, the topography is exquisite! the lava flows stops and the volcano continues into the abyss with an abundance of diverse marine life and corals.

Gary is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Ever since my first breath in a swimming pool in Thailand, I knew I wanted a diving career. COVID took a big hit on that, but I started travelling at the beginning of 2022 with the intention to find underwater work. I am particularly passionate about sea creatures, topography and history, which are some of the reasons why Statia is special. I just enjoy being surrounded by the sea and being able to give people that same opportunity and experience. I studied archaeology and history at school, which relates to my favourite dive site being Triple Wreck. The history, story and artifacts of the wrecks captivated me, as well as the diversity of marine life on the reef.

Anna is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. I fell in love with diving when I was in the Colombia for part of my university studies back in 2017. Since then, together with my partner Timo, I travelled around exploring Asia and Europe above and below sea level. In 2022, I finally made my passion become my profession and after a few stations on the Azores and in Croatia as divemaster, now with the arrival to Statia and Scubaqua I found an amazing place to settle. I speak German, Spanish, English and a bit of French. Besides everything related to water, I like hiking, cooking and spending time in a hammock. My favorite dive spot in Statia waters is Double Wreck for the impression of busy underwater cities you get when drifting from one reef to the next and it’s abundance of small creatures. Hope to have you here to hear me cheering under water when spotting the juvenile smooth trunkfish or a seahorse!

Timo is a PADI Divemaster. After a for me absolutely overwhelming snorkeltrip in Egypt in 2008 the decision to become a diver was made. Back in Germany, where I was born and raised, I got my AOWD in some cold and muddy lakes. Still loved it! For over ten years from then diving around the world always made me happy! My job in the automotive industry did not! While finally doing a divemaster internship on the Azores, together with my partner Anna, we figured out that it’s a great symbiosis of passion and work. I love food an relaxed places! I love this planet with all its nature and creatures on it and so for sure I can’t stand people who don’t treat our earth with respect. Showing people the planets very magical part under the surface of the oceans, for example on my favorite dive site Grand Canyon, is the mission. See you down there soon!

Jeanne is A PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. I’ve had the privilege to grow up in nature with the ocean being a big part of my life. I see diving as a way of life , connecting with nature and people. I love spending time outdoors. Here in Statia I feel at home and feel proud to be part of the Scubaqua team, as I’m part of broadening people’s perspectives by introducing them to the hidden gems of Statia! Aquarium is my favorite spot to visit, this little reef is surrounded by marine life in abundance! Here is also the place to look for beautiful Nudibranches!

Noortje is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. From 2014 until 2017 I worked for Scubaqua. Then I took a break from professional diving, but never left St. Eustatius. 2021 seemed a good year to get back in the water. So here I am, and it’s a joy to be showing our guests the underwater world again! I speak English and Dutch. Besides my work at Scubaqua, I also teach yoga, which is my other passion. I like hiking, plants, and playtime with my dogs. I don’t like caterpillars on my plants and ignorance. My favorite divesite is Double Wreck, for it’s historical artifacts and abundant (macro) sealife.

Jasper is a Padi Open Water Scuba Instructor, who speaks Dutch, English and a little bit of Spanish and French. Since I was little, I’ve had a passion for the underwater world and a big interest in breathing under water. My dream was to become a dive professional and to discover our beautiful planet.  At the age of 26, I’ve packed my bags and left Belgium to follow that dream. Now I’m a real passionate instructor, who loves to teach and lead people, as well as to share my enthusiasm and love for diving. My favorite dive site in Statia is Princess Corner. What I really like here are all the soft corals, turtles, the hunting barracuda’s, the interesting yellowhead jawfish, but most of all, the reef and nurse sharks!

Seth is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. After an 18 year career as a sales rep in the dental field, I decided to follow my passion and become a scuba diving instructor. I am passionate about ocean conservation, Adaptive Diving, and love spending time with friends and family. I speak English, Pig Latin and a little Spanish. I like kindness, a dry sense of humor and smart people that disagree with me. I don’t like hatefulness, inconsiderate people or mushrooms. Favorite dive in Statia is Hangover reef named after the numerous overhangs covered in coral and sponges. In combination with the sandy patches in-between these lava flows this dive site “has it all”.

Caro is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. After diving for a couple of years in South East of Asia, and being a professional underwater photographer and an instructor in Philippines, I decided with my husband,Rolf, that it was time for a change. He wanted me to discover Dutch Caribbean and, as soon as we arrived in Statia, I knew we made the good choice! I speak French, English, Spanish and I can understand a little Italian. I like people with a sense of humor and honesty, and a love for life in general. I don’t like people judging too easily and lies. Best dive in Statia is Nursing Station because it is so full of schooling reef fish, lobsters and, if you are lucky, a nurse shark (or two/three)!

Rolf is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. After diving for fun since 2001 I decided in December 2014 that it would be an excellent idea to become a pro and to pursue my passion. I started my professional career in diving in the beautiful Philippines and Indonesia. But remembering dive trips to the Caribbean I was incredibly happy when Caro and I got the opportunity to move to Statia and join the Scubaqua team. I speak Dutch English and German and understand Spanish and French if you’re kind enough to speak slowly. I like honesty and humility in people, I don’t like smugness and condescending attitudes. Best dive in Statia Triple Wreck because of all the history you encounter on the sea floor.
